POSITION: NEWS WRITER-EDITOR (FULL-TIME)

REPORTS TO: NEWS DIRECTOR & ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS: The right person for the job is an energetic, enthusiastic, and creative team player. Must have the desire and ability to write quickly, clearly, concisely, creatively, and with an edge. Must be able to write compelling news stories under extreme deadline pressure. Must work well with others and interact well with the public. Prior newswriting or related experience needed. Multi-tasking skills a must. Strong computer skills required. Familiarity with Los Angeles area including politics, geography, lifestyle, etc. preferred. Available to work all hours, overnights, and weekends and amenable to changes in work shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
· Writing and regularly updating newscast copy and scripts
· Digital audio editing
· Editing and producing newscasts as necessary
· Supervise and manage writers, reporters, and anchors and offer clear direction
· Offering story ideas on a regular basis
· Interviewing news makers
· Related newsroom duties as necessary

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Run on air board for multiple formats talk, sports, music, news, etc.
· Digital Production Experience.
· Producing live talk show.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
· Three to five years’ previous experience preferred.
· Familiar with talk, news, format preferred.
· Production experience necessary. Familiar with Sound Forge and Vegas a plus!
· Knowledge of FCC requirements and laws.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
· High school graduate
· College degree in a media-related major preferred, flexibility offered based upon previous actual experience

POSITION: INTERN

QUALIFICATIONS: KNX is looking for an intern to help in several areas of the production and support for Melinda Lee’s show. We are looking specifically for a college-age student, with a commitment to radio that wants to learn the business from the ground up. This is a part-time position for college credit. Candidate will be expected to work Sunday as a show screener from 8am until noon, and then an e-mail coordinator at other times during the week. The internship will follow CBS guidelines listed below:
· All internships will be for school credit.
· Internships must meet the criteria of the school (number of hours).
· Interns must be over 18.
· Interns must not operate station vehicles.
· Interns must sign the internship agreement in the Employee Policy Manual.
· Interns must be supervised at all times.
